The store for electronics and gadget geeks :-) A good range of stock including phones, Sat Nav systems, walkie talkies, gadgets, toys, CCTV, metal detectors, computer memory, components etc. etc. Plenty of staff available on the day I visited, so all in all a perfectly fine electronics store.

Everything you need for your business or home office is under one roof here. From desks, chairs and filing cabinets right down to the humble paperclip. They also have a range of electronic goods including laptops, printers, cash registers etc. as well as all their consumables. There is a Copy and Print department in-store too for those jobs which are a bit too big for you to manage in-house. The store is large, bright and spacious and there is ample parking thanks to its convenient location on the Retail Park.

Clothing and homewares store on the Clifton Retail Park. I was always under the impression that you had to get a membership card to shop there (it cost you £1 in years gone by if I remember rightly) and I could never really be bothered with it, but they seem to have dropped that requirement now. Basically it stocks reasonably priced goods; crockery, towels, bedding etc. as well as women’s, men’s and children’s clothing. All in all an OK shop really, but nothing to get particularly excited about :-)

Smashing little village stores which crams an awful lot into a small space. An extensive alcohol section and a really good range of produce for such a small store. As well as all the usual things you would expect them to stock they also have such delights as Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding and excellent bread rolls which look (and taste) like they come from a small bakery. Cashpoint machine in store too which is convenient for a small village like Hambleton. Friendly lady proprietor passes the time of day, great little shop!

Aquatic superstore selling everything you could possibly need for tropical fishkeeping and also pond fish and accessories. There was a good selection of tropical fish and a reasonable selection of goldfish and koi when I visited, however it was December so some of the pond fish tanks were empty which is understandable really. As well as all things fish related they supply pet supplies for just about every other type of pet you can think of and also sell rabbits, guinea pigs, cockatiels, finches and reptiles. Hutches, cages, bedding and food complete the picture. They also have a large range of tents and camping accessories too. Helpful staff, plenty of parking and Ma Bakers licensed coffee shop alongside make it well worth a drive out to visit if you’re a pet owner or looking to set up an aquarium.

Very popular chippy. Always looks clean and inviting. As well as the usual cod and haddock they always have a variety of other fish available including specials such as sea bass, hake, calamari and john dory. The restaurant appears to be very popular and has a license for alcohol so you can enjoy a glass of wine or beer instead of the traditional pot of tea if you fancy :-) Update After a couple of recent visits when the chips have been very disappointing I’ve lowered my rating to 3 stars. Common consensus between family and friends seems to be that they can be a bit hit and miss at times. Although I’ve never had a bad fish from here, they’re usually freshly cooked to order, chips are an important part of ‘fish & chips’ so if they’re poor the whole meal is spoiled. At £6.90 for large haddock, large chips and mushy peas when I visited today it isn’t exactly a cheap meal so standards should be consistent. A good reputation, which Seniors undoubtedly has, can be quickly lost if too many people are disappointed too often.

Large Clark’s factory outlet store with a good range of stock. The shoes are arranged in sizes (including half sizes) so it’s easy to see what’s available in your size at a glance. They seem to do various offers, when I visited there was a ‘buy one pair get a second pair half price’ deal on ladies footwear. As well as shoes they stock luggage and also a good selection of Regatta jackets. Easy to park in the enormous car park which serves Tesco, Next and Matalan as well as this Clark’s shop. Basically it’s a conveniently located shoe outlet store selling reasonably priced Clark’s shoes, its size makes it feel a little impersonal compared to a traditional high street shoe shop but hey ho you can’t have everything I don’t suppose.
