Häagen Dazs - Leicester Square

Ok, it might be overrated, it might be overcrowded, it might have a slow service. But just try a warm waffle covered in maple syrup along with a scoop of pralines and cream and another of dulce de leche and it's all gone. Everytime I order this to share I kinda regret - I want it all for myself. Avoid it on weekends, though - the queues might get huge and the service even slower. They also have a take-away place, for a quick ice-cream fix.

Small american diner in Soho, just off Charing Cross Rd. Every star I rate on this one goes for the heavenly sweet butterscotch milkshakes - to die for.

One of the few 24-hour places in London, it offers, simply, the best cappuccino in town. The decor feels really authentic and they show italian football matches! But the nicest thing to do is to sit outside, even in winter, as they have heaters, and watch the mixed and particularly interesting Soho crowd.

Here we've got a pub with great selection of beers, cocktails, very central location and - tah-dah - authentic thai food. The green curry brought tears to my eyes - it's hot! Delicious. Price is fair: on lunchtime you can get a deal of 2 starters and a main dish for £8.
Kulu Kulu Sushi - Soho

Kulu Kulu is this tiny restaurant near Regent Street, blink and you miss it. When I first went there, I confess I felt a bit lost: it was like everyone there was a member of a club in which I was trying to infiltrate. But ok, intuitively I've found the chopsticks, the ginger and the wasabi - it's all about helping yourself. There are some tables but you want to sit next to the conveyor belt and wait anxiously for what's coming next: salmon sushi, slices of pineapple or tuna niguiri? Everything tastes fresh and delicious and they charge according to the saucer you get - prices go from £1,20 up to £3,60. At the end there was a pile of them! You can also have some green tea for free.

Ok, it IS pricey. But it's so charming! The tables are tiny but the tea pot is huge and the blueberry cheesecake is heaven. Tea for two plus one slice of cake was around £9. Everything delicious.
Cafe No. 1 - Covent Garden

Probably one of my favourite places to eat in London. The prices are incredibly cheap and everything tastes fresh and yummy. Paninis are my favorites. It's a tiny place on a corner of Earlham street, next door to Magma Books - just off Charing Cross Road. Jacket potatos with chesse and beans for £2,50! They also have a large choice of fillings in their fridge, and you can combine them with potatoes, baguettes or rolls. Eat in or take-away. I love it.
Portobello Road Market - Notting Hill

What I like in this market is, most of all, the second hand clothes section. So, if you're coming from Notting Hill Gate, you gonna have to walk all through the market till its end - might be a waste of time if you're not interested in seeing all the rest. Better get off at Ladbroke Grove. I bought leather gloves for £4, braces for £5 and there is a really great stall there selling sweaters and cashmere with minor damages for real cheap.
Netty This market is my dream! I would love browsing the second hand clothes section - & I always find something I like. Your leather gloves were a bargain.

Spitalfields Market - City of London

Spitalfields Market is not only a great market, but it's also in a great location - walking distance from Brick Lane and surrounded by nice bars, cool restaurants, cute shops, and a good musical venue, the Spitz. Though you might end up seeing too much of those scruffy things you find in Camden Town, concentrate on the sweets - fudge, liquorice... yummy.

It's a bit like a dream world with all its old toys, miniatures, little soldiers and fairies. They sell victorian style paperdolls and puppets and all the kind of cute small things.
