Areia Colonial Chill Out - Centro

Calle Hortaleza 92, 28004 Madrid

15-06-2011

The place had a hippy chillout feel to it, with red drapes hanging from the ceiling and pillows and large sofas and even a VIP bed (where you pay 1 euro extra on every drink to be there). It was pact but we were lucky to get a good spot. The cocktails are amazing (I had a mango daiquiri and bloody mary) for 8 euros the pop.

Great lounge music and cool feel :)

Gabana - Barrio de Salamanca

Calle Velázquez 6, 28001 Madrid

Supposedly a hard to get in place. I was expecting a chic young decoration inside. Honestly, it was a bit of a try hard, the decoration might have been in style in the 80's but it's definitely past!

The drinks are 12 euros, the music was soso, and the VIP is honestly kind of cheesy. I went because a pal claims to "own" the place but I won't be going back anytime soon,(and this comes from someone that loves chic!)

Wagaboo - Chamberí

Paseo General Martínez Campos 26, 28010 Madrid

This is not an ITALIAN EATERY. This is a fun concept dining place. I went on Thursday because on this day you having amazingly unlimited and totally delicious mojitos until midnight. Now let me tell you, I am a student that has been residing in Spain for 4 years now, and I have NEVER received such AMAZING service (so good that we left a tip, if you can imagine)

The place has a chic modern young feel to it. The menu varies from asian, italian cuisine but if you check on their website they have months where they'll offer food from different parts of the world such as Africa or the Carribean.

To be honest the food could have been better, (I have a fine palette) but the overall dining experience was amazing.

Appetizer: from 8-15 euros
Main Course: 12-20 euros

I came here to eat a little something since it's close to my house. The place looks really nice, typical Irish bar, good commercisal music, friendly staff, etc. Pherhaps I didn't get lucky on my order, nor did my boyfriend because we ordered salads for 6 euros each that came in the size of 2 fistfuls (very small) and they were not at all to our taste. Maybe we just don't have a taste for German salads. We also ordered the Berlin hotdog, which I found quite mediocre considering the price-quality ratio.

Overall, I would come back, it's a really friendly bar and cool irish style decor plus you can never go wrong ordering a beer here.‎ Just would be careful on ordering food here for the next time.

The sushi is okay however it's quite pricey for what they offer.
