Urbis Museum - Manchester
Cathedral Gardens, Manchester, Greater Manchester M4 3BG
24-04-2008
This incredible building houses a museum, gift shop, restaurant and cafe. A must for all visitors to Manchester, the exhibitions on display change regularly, but generally focus on the theme of Manchester and/ or Urban living and artwork. Urbis offer several walking tours which are a great way to familiarise yourself with the city and its past. My tip is: give the cream tea in the cafe a try- gorgeous!
Vue Cinemas - Salford
Designer Outlet at The Lowry Salford Quays, Salford, Greater Manchester M50 3AG

This cinema rarely gets busy due to it’s slgihtly odd location, but it’s actually ar eally nice place. Good staff, comfy seats, and clean and smart looking. If you go on a Tuesday, tickets are cheaper, and you can validate your car park ticket for free parking, making it a cheap and convenient alternative to the city centre cinemas.
AMC Great Northern - 16 Cinemas - Manchester
Unit 2 The Great Northern, 235 Deansgate, Manchester, Greater Manchester M3 4EN

Given the choice between the ridiculously-priced Odeon and this, the only other town centre cinema, I’d pick AMC everytime. With show times throughout the day, and almost as many films on offer, there’s generally less queueing time and more convenient parking options than the Odeon, plus you can spend the money you save on your tickets on some pick and mix!
Odd Bar - Manchester
30 Thomas Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester M4 1ER
24-04-2008
This award winning bar is one of the highlights of the Northern Quarter. Always lively and delightfully quirky, it’s a truly unique place to enjoy a few drinks. The staff are friendly and there’s a grear range of drinks on offer.
Hard Rock Cafe - Manchester
Unit 7-9 The Printworks 27 Withy Grove, Manchester, Greater Manchester M4 2BS
24-04-2008
A stylish and fun bar and restaurant that doesn’t quite live up to the stadard of its London counterpart. The menu is ‘American grill’ based, and quite expensive, but always tasty. Service can be patchy, but at least you’ve got lots of interesting music memorabilia to look at while you’re waiting.
Aruba - Doncaster
40 Silver Street, Doncaster, South Yorkshire DN1 1HQ

Extremely popular bar with pre-clubbers on Doncaster main stretch with a funky, buzzing atmosphere. Good mix of chart pop/ r’n’b downstairs, with dance music upstairs. Get there early to secure your seat!
The Salutation - Doncaster
14 South Parade, Doncaster, South Yorkshire DN1 2DR

This is a good, traditional-style pub, great for pre-drinks on a Friday or Saturday night before you head into the main town centre, or for a couple of bevvies mid-week. VERY busy around 8- 10.30pm on the weekend. Great jukebox, but make sure you put your request in as soon as you get there as it’s slow to catch up and you’re unlikely to het to hear your song if you don’t!
Santini's - Doncaster
8c Nether Hall Road, Doncaster, South Yorkshire DN1 2PW

A really lovely Italian restaurant. The menu isn’t extensive, but that doesn’t matter when all the food on it sounds as delicious as this. Friendly, helpful staff, many of whom are genuine Italians. Quite a small place, which gives it a cosy feel, but also means it’s best to book.
Hare & Tortoise - Doncaster
Bawtry Road, Doncaster, South Yorkshire DN4 7PB
24-04-2008
This charming pub has a great menu and a cosy feel. Definately more a place for couples and friends rather than those with a young family, as the place has quite a grown up feel and I don’t remember there being a play area there. The only downside is the location- it’s on a busy road, so dining and drinking outside isn’t so pleasant.
Toast - Doncaster
Priory Walk, Doncaster, South Yorkshire DN1 1AA

This bar just doesn’t quite work; it’s as if the owners are trying to hard. It’s too dark, the decor doesn’t quite create the classy feel they’re clearly going for and the music is turned up far too loud far too early in the evening. Plus the bar prices are a bit steep.
