Brilliant review

The best bit of the grey mares tail is the bit most people miss.

If you walk to the top, and keep going, then eventually you will reach Loch Skeen, which really is stunning!

Its kind of unexpected just how awesome the view overlooking the loch actually is, and if you’re really fit, then you can walk all the way round the loch on a ridge which is pretty tough going at the start, but rewarding to say the least!

smashing pub on academy street in dumfries

one of those pubs that has all ages within, which is great.

good atmosphere, and a beer garden round the back, good news for the smokers!

I dont drink here, but know a good few who do, and this is a friendly pub, a bit old fashioned maybe, but whats wrong with that!!?

this is a great little pub at the top of english street, a fairly old pub and pretty traditional.

good atmosphere inside too, although maybe not the kind of pub that you’d spend a whole evening in.

this is a private members club in dumfries, and although ive never been there, ive never heard a good or bad thing said about it, so am not in much of a position to review it!

situated at the foot of english street, this doesnt look like much from the outside, so god knows what awaits within!

not really my cup of tea. used to be a decent pub, and a good place to stop off for a beer on the way into town.

in recent years its went a bit downhill. bit of a shame really, as its in a good position. hopefully it can get back to the way it once was.

good pub grub, not the best atmosphere as a pub, but they serve some really good food, and the staff are friendly.

So why have I given this butchers shop five stars?

Well, its been in the town for years and years and people travl from far and wide to get their hands on Houston’s butcher meat. Everyone I know who eats meat says this place is the daddy of all butchers.

reasonable hotel, nothing too special, so if you are visiting and you want somewhere particularly nice, go to the hazeldean guesthouse or the rivendell guest house. Or if you’re a bit posh then theres the cairndale, station or aston hotel.

However this is an ok little guest house, with a decent bar, and nice food, and its two minutes walk from the town centre, so if you’re staying over for a night then this place is cool, any longer than one night then I’d go somewhere a bit nicer.
