Hasn’t got the overwhelming choice of the larger shops on the near by Leipziger Strasse but everything one would need form a top quality selection. For example; change from harmful chemicals to wash your clothes to easily used and cheaper “wash-nuts”.

Call in for helpful and friendly service from Nau-Nau, Ako and Miyuki, sit outside and enjoy a cup of tea, piece of cake, a beer or an ice, in a word – relax – pavement-café style.

Friendly and calm, excellent food and drink. A few doors down from the well known “da Cimino” but without the hectic, I invariably take those few extra steps and it is always a wise decision, I have never been disappointed, always pleased with my choice .

Newly renovated, an even more welcoming atmosphere, still an excellent kitchen and selection of drinks.

I was so overwhelmed by the lunch I enjoyed that I went back (over 40 miles) on the next day for my breakfast.

“Strawberry Fields Food Emporium opened in the old bakery in Market Square on Saturday as another empty shop in nearby Market Hill is refurbished as a greengrocer and pet food shop and a champagne bar is expected to open in the town soon.

Owner Kerry McStay said: “The reaction has been overwhelming. On Saturday morning we were absolutely packed out.

“The market is always there on Saturday and we’ve got free parking for more than 200 cars.

“We benefit from the market and they benefit from us.

“Hopefully we will get business from the outlying villages and there are three more shops opening soon.

“It’s a town that’s on the move.”

The deli sells fresh bread, including sun dried tomato bread and honey and toasted sunflower seed bread, baked on site by Mr McStay’s son, Padraic.

It also sells its own confectionery, fruit and vegetables and speciality foods from around the world and closer to home.

As well as Moutarde de Meaux Pommery mustard in stone jars sealed with wax and Coeur de Neuf Chatel heart-shaped cheese from France it stocks smoked bacon from Rugby, honey from Rushden, champagne, creme de cassis and tequila marmalade from Bulwick and Long Clawson Stilton from Melton Mowbray.

Mr McStay, who has been in the food trade for 40 years, has also applied for a licence to sell wine.

He said: “We are bringing Rothwell a great food story.” "

Just on the next corner so really my "local".
Food good (but my salad hadn't been completely washed), well presented and good portions too, good value for money. Beer and drinks also well served and acceptably priced.
Small, fenced in (hedge has gone) garden and seating on the wide pavement, pleasant on a Summer's evening with the sun shade up.
Very close to the fair ground so very busy when exhibitions are on.
Village flair enhanced by closing on Saturday's.

Good food, good service and a great "garden" hedged in by, well, a sturdy hedge to keep away the noise, dust and other city intrusions.
Well worth a visit and is conveniently a short walk from the Fair ground so can get quite busy during exhibitions.
